SOFTWARE NEW designIT series 4 is now available

New User Interface

The user interface now incorporates the “Office 2007 style ribbon bar” allowing users access to all general functionality whilst we have kept the same easy to follow input and output regions with diagrammatic guidance on each required input field. Design operations are now broken down into application groups, such as floor framing, wall framing and roof framing with useful links to associated products and literature within these groups.

New functionality

Some of the new functionality incorporated in to designIT Series 4 includes:

  • Improved snow loading entry and operation (new to Australia)
  • Inclusion of some tie down details from relevant Timber Structures Standards for solid section members
  • Design to allow for notching of studs up to 125 mm deep
  • Permanent load deflection always displayed in Serviceability Report (except studs and post members) for ease of comparison with like members
  • New strutting beam modules, representing the roof area entry
  • Coming soon: ‘Special load cases’ functionality for the floor joist calculator. This allows designers to consider floor joists supporting concentrated loads from roofs and floors, parallel load bearing walls, etc. as well as hyJOIST trimming joists.
 
  

SOFTWARE NEW LAYUP floor layout and takeoff software

Layup is an ArchiCAD 12 add-on developed to aid specifiers in the fast and simple production of joist and rafter layouts.  It is one of the integral design components of the Superior Performance Flooring System, FLOORSUITE.  Once the layout is drawn up a simple click of the mouse will label, calculate and produce a schedule of quantities to be used by merchants making ordering and delivery of components a breeze.

DOWNLOADABLE HYJOIST CAD DETAILS FOR FIXING, BLOCKING AND CONNECTIONS 

The new hyJOIST floor details are now available for use in a dwg, dxf, mod and pdf format for use in CAD based programs.  These details have been developed in accordance with those specified in the hyJOIST design and installation guide and designIT.  These details are editable and therefore the responsibility of accuracy remains with the user once details have been altered.
